IMO real collectors are a bit f*cked in the head. Real sneakerheads are included in that claim. Lots of fake sneakerheads really only care about money and that’s fine, I just wouldn’t consider them to be real sneakerheads. Although I hate the term ‘sneakerhead’, by any stretch of the imagination I’m a sneakerhead. I see them in my sleep, I see them in my memories and I think about them way too often. I’m also reasonably certain that I can pinpoint the moment that I got into sneakers as a mechanism for coping - it was a very traumatic event (when my parents told me they were getting a divorce they appeased me by buying me my first/second pair of Jordans + some baseball cards).
