Man...as much of a @stephencurry30 fan as I am...I dunno if I’m happy that he’s not a sneaker guy or if I wish he were MORE of a sneaker guy.
IMO real collectors are a bit f*cked in the head. Real sneakerheads are included in that claim. Lots of fake sneakerheads really only care about money and that’s fine, I just wouldn’t consider them to be real sneakerheads. Although I hate the term ‘sneakerhead’, by any stretch of the imagination I’m a sneakerhead. I see them in my sleep, I see them in my memories and I think about them way too often. I’m also reasonably certain that I can pinpoint the moment that I got into sneakers as a mechanism for coping - it was a very traumatic event (when my parents told me they were getting a divorce they appeased me by buying me my first/second pair of Jordans + some baseball cards).
I remember seeing some livestream interview or something online...someone was like ‘yo Steph - show us your sneaker closet!’ And Steph responded with something like ‘it’s not very interesting it’s just a bunch of Currys. And more Currys. And more Currys.’
So...I guess...from a mental health standpoint...I’m glad Steph isn’t into shoes. He just seems like an all around positive dude and that’s the kind of dude I’d like to be. He seems to have a solid career, a solid family, a solid footing on all of the madness that surrounds him on a day to day. He’s not arguing with anyone in the comments on any of his posts because he’s got better things to think about.
On the other hand - could you imagine if Steph had hooked in with Nike and their designers and they lumped him in the Kyrie angle (ie: all about the kids)? The colorways would be outrageous, the storylines would be memorable, and the shoes would sell like hot cakes.
Nothing against @underarmour here, it’s just hard to believe this is the starting roster for their marquee athlete’s signature line.
