What's in a New Year's resolution?
0 pairs from January 1 - March 28.......25 pairs from March 29-today.
It started with that pair of Size? UK x Air Max 93’s I purchased a few days before Air Max Day. I was bummed I couldn’t cop the Bacon 90’s so was pretty happy with my Air Max Day consolation prize. $42.50
But then…something funny happened…and if you remember me posting about the Bacon’s you probably remember me posting that I hoped they would be another ‘Mars Landing 90’ (ie: Nike would overproduce them and prices would remain stable at or around retail). And they were. They are. You can still find DQM 90’s for around retail. Which is DOPE for folks who just want the shoe and don’t want any of that other madness associated with the release.
Anyway, this dude @mowgliart hit me up - he told me he’d give me his pair for retail….our wires crossed and I ended up coppin a pair from Korea (on eBay) instead. $170. SUPER happy with this pair.
And then I saw a pair of Pre-Montreals I wanted for years for MAD cheap. $35 on Mercari. Copped.
And then another pair of Vibram FiveFingers for jogging. $21. Copped. Too small tho.
And then a pair of Air Max Plus III’s for $49. I waited 15 years for the retro. Copped.
And then some Air Max 97/BW’s. I like Skepta so I’ve gotta support him in some way (even tho this isn’t his model). $51. Copped.
And two pairs of Overbreaks. I really wanted that pair of Mars Yards and dude was getting rid of them for $205 shipped and $135 for the Purple Chocolates. Double copped.
And THREE GODDAM PAIRS OF WAFFLE RACERS. Easily one of my favorite on-foot wears. $170 for all three. TRIPLE copped.
And this crazy Nike Air Baked Footscape ‘Mexican Blanket’ Sample. Without hesitation. $75.
And some Waffle Crater Racers. $39. I’ve wanted these since last year. (Was it last year? Or the last time I was in a Nike outlet?) Copped.
And some Free Flyknit 5.0’s. Always on the lookout for this shoe. $58. Copped.
And some React 55’s. (They were only $25 and I was camping and ‘needed’ another pair of shoes at the time)
And some Nike James Harden Zoom Run the 1 WearTest Samples. A Brooklyn fan might overpay for these some day, right? $24.99
And some vintage-ish flannel Court Forces. Corduroy? $22.
And some Internationalist Utilities. I mean, they’re internationalists. And they’re utilities. And they were only $11.99. I had to, right?
And some blackout Kobe V’s…these were actually mine from about 10 years ago (when I won those rec ball championships) and my dad uncovered them in his basement and he gave them back to me after I helped him with a burn for the day. Free.
And some Air Pegasus Racer Vachetta Samples. $31
And then some goddam Nike SB x Supreme Tennis Classics. $42.50
And some Grandstand II Samples. $49.99
And TWO pairs of that new Air Max 96 II ‘Blackened Blue’ (first pair I bought from Germany was a bit tight). 190 EU or $230/each. (ouch)
And my dude gave me a pair of Jordan 1 Bio Hacks. Free.
If you’re keeping track…that’s a lot of goddam pairs. 25 pairs. Since March 29th. Grand total? $1717.97. My wife is not impressed. I guess if I were the type to still go out ordering appetizers and drinks, that’s about…I dunno…17 nights out? Was it worth it?
The good news is, I sent roughly 50 pairs over to my folks at Another Lane for consignment and am about to send another 10-20 pairs their way. Even though it seems I’m way in the red (I am), I’m at least taking steps to try to get into the green (LOL). Man. I’m wack. WTF is wrong with me? It’s clear that it’s damn near almost impossible for me to pass up a deal….
Anyway…happy New Year! I hope you’re doing better with your resolutions than I am!
