What is YOUR biggest complaint with Nike *as a shoe provider?
I’d say my biggest complaint with Nike as a shoe company is the sizing...like...how can I say that I’m just as comfortable wearing a mens 8 in the AF1 Year of the Horse and a mens 11 in Huaraches? The inconsistency in sizing is staggering.
Some Jordans - I know I won’t even try anything lower than a 9.5 (ie: 3’s, 4’s), and prefer in a 10, where others I won’t even touch ABOVE an 8.5 (ie: 1’s) XII’s fit the most consistent, IMO, but there are plenty I just don’t rock with at all (2’s, 5’s, 9’s).
Air Maxes are the worst, though. Some 90’s I can get by wearing an 8...I recently copped a pair of those AM 90 x Bassment’s in a size 9.5 and they’re WAY too small. I actually hate copping 90’s sight unseen because nearly every pair is a crapshoot. AM1’s/87’s are bad, too. AM Plus’s, 95’s, 97’s, 96’s, 98’s, hybrids. They’re ALL a crapshoot. The first batch of 98 retro’s that came out in 2015 (including the Supreme 98’s) - every single pair I needed a size 10 and they still felt tight. Every single pair of 98 retro’s made since then (2018 up until today), are size 9’s.
Dunks are *pretty* consistent. But the more I wear certain pairs the different they tend to feel. Some get tighter with age, others get looser.
By far - the most consistent sizing on any shoe in the whole Nike line for me has been the Air Force 1 Low. I’ve owned hundreds of pairs and have owned pairs that are 20 years old that fit *EXACTLY the same as pairs that are 2 months old. A size 8.5 fits my foot PERFECTLY. It’s the right amount of snug and it’s the perfect length. I love how a 2 month old pair of AF1’s feels just like a 20 year old pair...it actually gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that I can *never* go wrong with the sizing on this one shoe.
It’s so strange trying to convince non-sneakerheads that different shoes feel different (in the same size)...one of my friends...42 years old and has been wearing size 8.5 for the past 25 years of his life...he found a pair of Nike’s recently that say size 10 and he wears them every day so he’s convinced he’s now a size 10.
