Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you might’ve heard that Nike recently laid off 500-700 employees from their corporate office in Oregon…
a strange set of events have occurred over the past few weeks that has some of us wondering...is it all a coincidence? Or are these events related...?
So apparently Marcus Jordan- @heirmj523 - The GOATs son and the founder of @trophyroomstore had his own Jordan 1 created…Apparently these ‘early pairs bro’ hit the streets before Marcus even knew that they were actually in America. A gang of pairs leaked. And now they’re all over social media.
What makes this ‘early pairs bro’ different from the other ‘early pairs bro’? This is actually the final product. Unlike the @jbalvin and @travisscott PS dunks - this is ACTUALLY the final product.
Directly from my source - the ‘ticket’ insert comes with the shoes, but is created in a different factory and ordered by a different department entirely. Furthermore, the footwear design team wasn’t even aware that the marketing team was including the insert in the release. So the ticket would have needed to have been placed into the shoebox at either the manufacturer (overseas) or at the Memphis distribution center once ALL of the shoes were ready for market. Only an insider would have known that. So. If the shoes come with the ticket (it appears they do) - these are indeed the REAL pairs that were set for market.
To make matters worse - when Marcus tweeted about it - he essentially confirmed that the resellers out there who have these in hand (with the ticket) are actually in possession of real (albeit stolen) pairs. Sure, someone is going to lose their job over this, (maybe several people) but the damage is already done. And this looks REALLY bad from a PR perspective.
Again - I have my own ideas about potential solutions...but what do you think Nike can do to prevent this type of stuff from happening? How can Nike prevent THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES FROM FINDING CREATIVE WAYS TO CHEAT THE SYSTEM that THEY THEMSELVES PERPETUATE?
