The second pair of the Orchard Street dunks, the ‘Siempre Fresco’, wasn’t as much of a surprise.
If I recall correctly, they were rolling off the hype of the first release and decided to switch things around, understandably more for the benefit of their store than the benefit of the Lower Eastside. I think they planned an in-store release only so all of us looking for a steal didn’t care all that much. They just didn’t hit as hard. I believe these started out as Brazil high’s that they painted orange (instead of yellow) They did a cool job on the little side panel cutout, and the flipped tongue, but that was about it.
Coming off that first legendary release (the red and yellow pair), IMO the second set was a total flop (in my memory). I might have the details wrong, but it seems the second release was kinda rushed, it was way more transparent, and fell kinda flat (at least in my head). I think they said they were released most of the pairs in store (40 pairs total) and I remember hearing that they were gonna put a few outside like the other pairs, but I think that was just a rumor. From what I heard most just ended up in store and they gave them to a few New York-centric celebrities (ie: Nas, Jay Z, etc.) and that was that.
No telephone poles. No lampposts. Nada. And that effectively closed the Orchard Street dunk era.
Still, I think if you’re lucky enough to find a pair you’re looking at an easy $10k…
