Saws these ‘Jordan 200 Max’ slide across my timeline the other day and I did a double take.
It wasn’t the red pair that caught my eye - it was the ‘Bayou Boys’ pair posted on @sneakerpolitics that looked real familiar (swipe to see pic). I spent a little too long looking at the pic because after I swiped on by, I saw pics on my computer, my ipad, my FB account and IG again and again. In the pics they posted - the shape looked/looks very similar to a Jordan IV IMO.
Back in the day...when Retros first started coming out and they dropped that Air Force Lite (the ones I posted a few weeks ago), I remember thinking ‘why isn’t Jordan re-mixing old Jordans with new tech?’ I remember thinking (specifically) ‘how ergonomic is the flat sole on a Jordan 3? Can’t they keep the upper consistent while creating a new sole a bit closer to what an actual foot looks like?’
As soon as I saw these, I hit up my contact at JB and asked him about it (which wasn’t really necessary because I could have just done a google search and found the same information). Directly from NDC: “With design elements inspired by the Air Jordan 4, the Jordan Max 200 brings a new level of Air to Jordan for details anchored in legacy and comfort made for the future.”
Even me - a dude who’s too washed to follow the masses - would have a hard time coppin these. Even though I LIKE them and think they look very similar to what I imagined - I couldn’t picture moving past the legacy of the original Jordan IV. If I got them for free, I’d wear them as beaters...but...it’s a tough sell. Maybe 20+ years ago...definitely...but today? It’s a tough sell.
What about you? Do you have any interest in classics that are updated with the tech?
