I really like the tag placement on this shoe. I know maybe it seems a bit pointless or silly or whatever, but why can’t Nike insert an RFID chip tied to their patented blockchain *cryptokicks* behind this tag (or in place of this tag) to ensure authenticity? Literally all you’d have to do is swipe your phone in front of it and *boom - you’ve got an answer. No need to go through 48 levels of middlemen who don’t give a shit about shoes telling you what they think about your shoes.
I know it sounds absurd - I read something a few years ago that said that Nike sells 780m pairs of shoes a year - putting RFID chips in 780m pairs of shoes would be quite the task. I think they’d be able to get away with chipping 100 models a year...they don’t need to chip monarchs (or 95% of the shoes I have in my collection). Just the pairs they know are going to hit the stratosphere.
TBH, I never wanted to go too deep down the rabbit hole of authentication b/c I feel like I could put ALL of my effort into it and the next day Nike can just wipe out all of that effort with a simple technological improvement (ie: RFID chips).
Do any of y’all own this shoe? If so, how has the size tag on the sole held up over the years?
