It’s easy to complain and throw stones at Marcus Jordan and Westcoast Joe, but as soon as it comes to suggestions at the corporate level, I’m kind of at a loss.
Not to empathize with any corporation WHATSOEVER (I’m pretty sure they’re going to be our downfall)...but I do often wonder, though, what could they do to prevent this kind of bullshit from happening. And it’s not like it even has to be totally eliminated...but how do they make it look like shit like this isn’t happening?
Sure, I get the arguments for higher and lower production numbers, I get the arguments for better randomization, I get the arguments for and against raffles and I get the arguments for a better app and all that shit...but how do they make it a more *enjoyable* experience for the consumer?
The other day this dude basically told me that Nike doesn’t answer to customers, it answers to shareholders… and...sure...I’ve listened to Michael Scott talk about business, too. That’s something I would have heard from one of my Wall Street buddies. And it makes sense from a certain perspective. But if there were no customers, there would be no Nike. And if there were no Nike, there would be no shareholders. It’s an ecosystem where everything builds off of one other and to think one can exist without the other is incredibly short-sighted.
So...the question comes back to...how in the fuck does Nike make this a more enjoyable experience for their customers? I can guarantee there are PLENTY of people at Nike sitting in meetings discussing this very topic - how do we fix this monster that we’ve created? It’s clear they are making minor attempts to (birthday coupons?), but what would a perfect ‘Nike’ experience look like in your eyes?
