I’m assuming I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but this is an interesting twist…
@yg takes a page out of @nike book and builds off the Nike design that Nike lifted from @asics ...lol
Can’t say I’m a huge fan of Cortez’ to begin with, but I’ve owned a handful of pairs over the years...always kinda keeping one eye open for that lasered pair from the early 2000’s…but it’s an interesting silhouette because Nike has done quite a bit of experimentation with it.
If you haven’t read the book ‘Shoe Dog’, but Nike’s founder Phil Knight, I would highly recommend it. I read it a few years back, and I remember there was a section where he talks a bit about how the Cortez was actually based off of the Onitsuka Tiger Corsair silhouette.
A few years ago, Nike dug in the archives and rebuilt a few pairs of Cortez’ with original logo contenders...of which I picked up two of the three. I thought that was a pretty cool use of the silhouette…
Anyway, I, for one, am glad @YG didn’t come with another Jordan 1 or Dunk off-shoot. I’m not too keen on the silhouette, design, nor colors shown, but...what do you think...should he worry about gettin that @warrenlotas treatment?
