Pro tip - best way for me to tell if Travis 4's are real - look at the glue stains between the midsoles and the uppers. If there are none, likely fake. Authentic pairs had NOTORIOUSLY SLOPPY glue stains.
A 10+-year-old pair of Air Maxes that is likely to crumble upon first wear...for more than $2200 USD.
I LOVE air max 1's but I just couldn't imagine spending more than a couple hundred MAX for any pair. There are SO many colorways and SO many colorways that LOOK like other colorways and the pairs that are older than a few years old are very susceptible to crumbling.
The purple denim, although, YES, a cool color, I could NEVER justify the cost (unless I had someone ready to purchase from me for $3k)....
Top Comment: feetheat Tier Zero. I believe only like 300 or so pairs made. Available only in house @ Patta. Perfection. Been getting close to that number for almost a decade. TRUE limited drop. In todays market, where some pairs hit this number right from the rip, these at least check all the boxes to “deserve” the inflation

Top Comment: feetheat @thesneakersavant More like AmsterDONT. LoL! I’ve seen this done a few times with the burgundy wave color. Not a fan personally, and these are a far cry from the iconic Amsterdam AM1. These just look silly to me and and a mega fail. #Hamsterdam for sure!
Hear me out...As a 43-year-old white guy with little regard for keeping up with trends...I think Billie Eilish's sneakers are actually more versatile to someone like me than any of these Travis Scomp sneakers...(mostly) muted colors, premium materials, and relatively tame branding, those forces are right up my alley. And that pair of Jordan XVs is one of the nicer colorways of that model.
Not to say that Travis' shoes don't have their merits. I'm a fan of the AF1 and the mocha low and the Saturn gold AM1. But...for my price range and my wardrobe...I think I'd rather go with some Billie shoes. And maybe...just MAYBE...that's the point.
Nahhhhhh I'm just playin. Give me those Mocha 1 low's over everything on this page and I'm good.

One of those IYKYK pairs, I got a lot of interest in my pair @sneakerexpousa but it had me thinking…when *perfection* isn’t the goal, how do you feel about quality control when you’re looking to buy a pair? Do you even notice?
Obviously, with these being hand dipped by @acoldwall , no two pairs are alike and they appear to be going for an apocalyptic aesthetic…so messy is almost the key. Dye gathers in different areas so…what’s the top grade a pair like this could actually score with that in mind?
BTW I love my pair(s)…I think @sockjig said he sold a pair on @stockx a few years ago for like $1m or something 😂

IMO...it's just the lack of originality. It's hype and it's everyone just following the crowd. Sometimes it feels like everyone out there is going for the same 5-10 shoes at any given time and it's just boring.
To me, it should be about personal expression. But I DO understand that the vast majority of those in this space aren't at a point where they actually even know what they're expressing. For some people, expressing themselves actually *means* showing their allegiance TO the crowd. Which, is fine, I just don't find it all that interesting.
What about you? What do you feel is missing from 'the culture'?
Top Comment: pappy_power_hour Breaks. There are literally new shoes everyday. We see them months ahead of time and they’re old before they even drop. No matter how much anyone tries to hype something up it’s not special. Nothing is special when everything is special.
We need breaks in the action. The whole thing is exhausting.

The first time I saw these, a buddy from Nike’s innovation kitchen sent me a pic and I thought it was something he was loosely 'working on'. I had no idea they were an actual 'final product' that was set to release. The floppy leather gives full-on 'work-in-progress' vibes and to me, looks like a pain in the ass for casual wear.
My 'casual wear' is dropping/picking the kids off from school and/or walking in the park by my house and/or short hikes. So when I look at these, I see all kinds of rocks and sticks and barbs getting caught in between the different surfaces.
Anyway, this is a UNIQUE construction...and I have yet to see anyone really talk about these in any interesting terms...All I've heard about these so far is a half-assed nickname 'panda vomero'. And that is just about the weakest one imaginable...
I've got a few NSFW ideas...but...the one off the top of my head is... 'floppy foreskins'. Any better ideas?
Top Comment: jim_shoes These look like a throwback pick a shoe customizer would post of their first custom to show how far they've come.
