FRFR there are endless color combos that they could have went with...kinda curious as to why they stuck with the earth tones and that busboy black-on-black pair.
These look fire, tho. Which isn't all that surprising to me. When I went to Vietnam in 2010, I remember seeing all kinds of (fake) AJ1's with unique colorways that I wished they'd release. Check out the orange sole stitching, too. Dope.
(And...FTR...there really aren't enough shoes out there with the Miami Hurricanes colorways.)
Top Comment: bank__ro Wow, I actually like these. Sadly earthrones are “in” I can’t wait for that to die out
Ummmm...I absolutely prefer dunk sb low's, also prefer aj1 low's, part of the reason I never had any interest in the AJ1 x Off White Highs is because they were a High. These would be great (if real), IMO, except...wtf is "1 Mil"?
Top, middle, or bottom (or none)?
I woke up one morning at like 5 am and my head was screaming 'HEY WHAT WOULD THOSE SHOES LOOK LIKE IN CLASSIC COLORWAYS?' so I hit up my dude @sonsofblackmaria and this is what he came back with. I've seen a lot of varying opinions on these - seems most people either LOVE 'em or HATE 'em. Like most sneakers, I'm very 'eh' and I'll cop if I can find them for $20-100 I'm sure.
The whiteish-yellow-ish-sail-ish schtick is cool, but I'm so much more of a dark sneaker kinda guy because I tend to wear my sneakers (who, in their right mind, wants WHITE soles?)
But also...I love the woven thing. It works so well with Footscapes & Innevas...I'm glad they're experimenting with other models...I feel like they could implement this look with ALL kinds of runners and never thought they'd give it a go with some AJ1's so I think it's cool to see.
Anyways...
Top Comment: undftd_reg The middle and bottom pairs are sick, I’d love a pair of each honestly.

News over on the Twittersphere (that I haven’t seen over here) is that @complex hasn’t been paying some of their top ‘independent’ creators. Upon hearing this news last month, my first reaction was ‘Hmmm…I had no idea these independent content creators were getting paid by one of the least independent media companies in the space…hey…I’m still independent…When am I gonna start seeing some checks for these daily essays I been writing?”
Tbh, I don’t really follow any of these guys but know of the work they do… @kustoo pretty much being the top dude out there...
Having been an accountant in a past life, I can see how certain things can go wrong with payments…but I also know how quick it can be to fix things. With the amount of money, I’m sure Complex has been raking in, I’m curious as to why this conversation has been going on for more than a month now… any theories? This could have or should have been fixed or addressed within a day. Y’all think Complex is actively trying to stiff these people or is it ‘accounting issues’? If Complex is actively trying to stiff these dudes…I should find some better uses of my time 😂
Top Comment: bmart Complex was acting as a multichannel network on YouTube, effectively able to bring in better ad dollars for these creators based on their collective size, name brand, and their own sales team. So, the money was flowing from YouTube to Complex to the creators.

This is why the Air Max 1 keeps winning...
...because...
...what the hell is this?
I'd like to meet the designer who looked at this shoe and said..."you know what, let's put denim and leopard print together with some white mesh and some gold stitching, and bam we've got another winner!"
I don't understand where they come up with any of the ideas for some of this stuff, but I'll be damned if it doesn't work. IMO These shoes are FIRE (but I wouldn't cop unless I found them for less than $55)
Top Comment: pappy_power_hour I am not an AM1 fan but every time they put out one of these Frankenstein designs it slaps. I love these.

Seeing that AJ1 x Union x BBS Footscape thingy...it made me think of this shoe I saw a while back...the 'Foot Industry "Weave"'. A bit more expensive than the Nikes (I think these retailed at $245 or something), I've only seen these on ONE website and I forgot what it was (something to do with Seattle).
Shape looks quite a bit sleeker than most of the Nike Footscapes I've seen...and y'all know I love me some sleek silhouettes. BUT...that color...I'm just not so sure of the green with the white...give me a black with any other color and we've got a game.
Anyone catch a pair of these?
Top Comment: ajpalyszeskiThis side-by-side highlights the fact that the Nikes are designed for wear and the others are designed for style.
Notice the shape of the toe box on the Footscapes is foot-shaped whereas the end of the others is really pointy!

Saw these monstrosities come across my feed and thought ‘damn those would go great with my ghilli suit’
And then I saw the price. I woulda thought these woulda been a DH Gate staple…something in the $14.99-$29.99 range…see slide 6 for the actual price (FFS)…
Top Comment: chillwillscloset Haven’t looked at the other slides yet. I’ll say 50$.
Came across this the other day and was kinda surprised...I had no idea they released an actual booklet... @instyleshoes1999 you know anything about this?
Very clear delineation between the 'price guide' they started with (probably based on @beckett.tcg super popular price guide for sports cards) and where they ended up. What better way to become THE price guide than by facilitating sales?
I feel like this is the point I've been at tho - you have a cool idea and are just trying to figure out the smartest way to distribute it. I'm sure they knew this wasn't going to fly with everyone and their mother pretty much LIVING on their phones and consuming digital, but it would certainly be a cool piece of history (like looking back at those old Becketts and seeing Jordan 1 RC's worth $100)... Anyone out there have a copy? I'd love to see what some of these sneaker prices were back in 2015!
Top Comment: instyleshoes1999 Insane to think about considering how much fluctuating the market does day to day. Ranges change constantly.
The answer is zero. Absolutely zero.
Even though I'm a bit on the 'old' side when it comes to sneakers, for whatever reason I've never worn a pair of Adidas Shelltoe Superstars.
It's not really that I didn't want to, but every time I was presented with a pair, I opted for something a bit...sleeker. That big bulbous toe really threw me off.
But.
When I was really young...I'm talmbout like 10-12 years old, I remember my dad got a pair of black and gold superstars at Ross and I *really* wanted a pair because I had seen them on a few hip-hop CD covers...
I knew the likelihood of me getting a pair was really really low...they were expensive and my parents were more into the dollar store kinda shoes. For whatever reason, I DID know how Ross worked at the time (and I don't think my dad did), so I devised a selfish plan to secure a pair...
One time when we were doing something, I asked him if he'd buy me the same pair as him. He said he would, but I knew the chances of them having the same pair 6+ months later at Ross was nearly zero. So...we went...they didn't have them...and I threw an absolute fit. The ADIDAS ones were the ones I wanted and I wouldn't accept anything else. So we looked everywhere. But. The only thing I didn't know...they couldn't be found at ANY of the sporting goods stores, either. Backfire.
Anyway...I never ended up with that pair and never got a pair for wear after that. I sold a couple of the city pairs (Berlin, New York, etc.) in the early 2000's, but that was it.
Made me wonder...what 'staples' are there that you never got around to owning?
Enjoy the week ahead!
