thesneakersavant: I know the true AF1 heads will probably shun me, but I struggle to understand why this pair is being retroed.
IIRC I saw this pair on sales racks in almost every store on the east coast that it released in…IMO it was a flop and the leather was that cheap plasticky crap that the pushed a lot in the mid 2000’s…
I know these weren’t made for me, which is fine, but I did have a few West Indian friends at the time these dropped and almost every single one opted for the simpler white on white low…
Am I trippin? Was this shoe actually a hit? Not sure why they wouldn’t just switch it up a bit…? I know @ervinshoes and @Solesupreme and @pgknows and @blucheez_llc and maybe @digglahhh can tell me what I’m missing…
top comment: @blucheez_llc Fax but keep in mind that EVERYTHING sat on shelves that was general release. Every. Single. Thing. These are being retro’d because @dontchargeabdul is part of the #shoeminati

thesneakersavant: What’s the consensus on the @takashipom drip AF1’s? Kinda shocked to see the results of the Twitter poll (second slide) but Twitter also operates in the echo chambers.
Really I don’t know if I like them all that much, but at least they look to be a bit more interesting than the AJ1 Dior IMO…I do have two reservations for this pair tho.
Similar production numbers - I’m still wondering if the barrier to web3 and NFTs is still too high or if people just really aren’t interested in them…
top comment: @churchofkicks I still have no idea how/why this relationship with rtfkt exists (or how it works) and/or what the end goal is. What I do know is that Murakami is not a household name AND licenses his imagery to all sorts of 💩 so these have no art world value, whereas the Diors are actually made in Italy and will always be sought after by label whores. In 10 years the latter will be selling for at least 10x the former.

thesneakersavant: New Oregon Dunk with early access for #flyingformations NFT holders…tbh this was the hope when we purchased these NFTs - that we’d get first dibs on exclusive drops.
I’m always a bit iffy on non-stuffed tongue dunks…what y’all think of these? 1000 pairs total - y’all think these will have a nice lil following attached to them?
top comment: @arkive2.0_ they’ll be a cool piece to have one day but idt they’ll be holy grails to many.

still a ways away from this NFT being a sort of premium subscription to the “hottest” product

thesneakersavant: God I hate this message. Every time someone tries to justify a sh*tty offer they start with a ‘but it’s an old release’.
As as soon as I get this one I know a sh*t offer is on the way.
True to form - dude went ahead and offered me half my asking price. You send me this one keep in mind your @$$ is probably getting blocked.
top comment: @digglahhh I hate almost all questions, but “what is the lowest you’ll take” - often expressed in any manner of astoundingly creative ways to ignore all rules of syntax and grammar - is probably the worst. This is especially true when there’s an OBO feature in the listing. That’s YOUR job. Make an offer. You’ll find out. If there’s no OBO and the item has been listed for a while and is a bit less in demand overall, then I don’t think it’s unreasonable for a buyer to inquire whether you’re willing to drop the price - but it’s best done tactfully. …Hey, noticed these have been available for a while. I’m interested but the price is a little more than I’m willing to pay, is there any flexibility? (Or they could even better make an offer right there). Two other points. 1. Half the asking price isn’t always an awful first offer imo. I think when you’re listing something w OBO, you tend to ask for more than you’re willing to take. So if I list something for 120 OBO, I’m probably fine with taking 100 and if I get 120 it’s a bonus. That means that if it hasn’t sold for a few, I haven’t even gotten offers of 100 - so that means that maybe I should consider more like 80. Now, when I’m the buyer, if I send an offer, I usually want to leave room for the seller to counter in case seller doesn’t like to accept an opening offer. So, if buyer offers 60, that leaves room for seller to counter and still wind up around 80. …For highly in demand items, this is out the window, but for slower moving things when I’m selling w an OBO, I usually set 50-60% of the asking price as the limit before offers are auto-rejected. I’m not necessarily accepting them, but they’re not necessarily too low to counter imo

thesneakersavant: …being a sneaker addict has me looking at these like…’Jesus f*ckin Christ these are ugly…what the hell is the point of that strap…but…that toe box looks like an AF1 toebox and it’s kinda neat…I guess I could wear them.’ 😂 I suppose it’s good I recognize the sickness, right?
My addiction resides in the $20-50 price range. If I see them for that price, they’ll be had.
Beyond that these can go straight to hell.
top comment: @scottrenus These are either awful beyond belief or amazing…and I can’t decide which camp I’m in. Dammit!
