I was always a bit curious as to how the @jbalvin x @jumpman23 collaboration ended up the way it did...
I would say I made a lot of assumptions but none of them really solidified. I assumed some kind of Murakami connection with all of the colors, but that was just me being lazy and not doing any research. I know there are lofty words out there, ‘Vibras’ comes to mind, but is there a direct correlation to something more concrete?
The other day, the designer of the original Day of the Dead Dunk (@numberoneproject ) reached out to me and hit me with what he believes was the inspiration…’Tractomulas Colombianas’. From the attached pic - it’s almost a dead match. I did a bit of googling and saw a handful of pics, but there isn’t too much online (at least in my corner of the internet)...apparently, my dude was telling me that drivers trick out their freight trucks in Colombia...which...sounds kinda strange...but then I thought...I’ve been all over the world and people trick out all kinds of vehicles...Tuk-Tuk’s in Thailand and the mini-buses in South Africa and the Jeepneys in the Philippines...what makes trucks so hard to believe?
I don’t know if it’s the full inspiration, but maybe @upscale_vandal or @izzington or @old_en_why or @frankcooker can confirm?
