Freshman year of college had me coppin shoes with a pretty loose strategy.
The first pair I copped - the Air Max Tailwind IV’s - the white and neon green pair - I copped at the Footlocker in Capitola, California. I almost immediately regretted it. I mean, I loved the shoes but was just thinking…’man, I have like $400 in my bank account and I just bought a pair of shoes for $140.’ So I returned them and traded them for some cheap ass Adidas Ozweego’s. Which I hated like a week in (bulky toebox). Problem was I wore those #ozweego in the rain and couldn’t return them, so I traded those to a new friend for some Puma Cell runners, which actually ended up being too small for me.
I was a mess. Air Max Pluses were around, but they were HELLA blue and HELLA orange and it was kind of a no-no for me to be that loud.
The goal back then was to have a pair of running shoes, a pair of skating shoes, a pair of basketball shoes, a pair of nice shoes, and maybe a couple of casual pairs.
That freshman year, I had no money and spent the majority of my free time looking for obscure rap cd’s at @streetlightrecordssantacruz and looking for shoes at local thrift shops...Copped this pair of Air Metal Maxes’ for about $9 at the local @salvationarmyus and don’t remember really wearing them all that much. I feel like they were super big on me. I don’t remember.
Nike - I see you’ve re-released a ‘Turf Green’ pair but nobody is buying those (lol) y’all should bring some simple colorways back too!
