(1/6) The secret to reselling
I’m gonna let y’all in on a little secret.
I’m gonna tell y’all how to make it as a sneaker reseller.
That’s right, YOU can be the next BenjaminKickz.
Everyone has their version of what to do and how to do it, but this is something I’ve been doing for the better part of 20 years and this little bit of advice has worked well for me over the years. So prepare yourself to be wowed. Let me set the stage.
There was once a time when reselling was highly frowned down upon…I actually got ‘called out’ for it on Niketalk one time (for literally trying to sell ONE pair of shoes that didn’t fit me)…so it’s kinda funny to me how many people currently think this is like ‘the only way to be a sneakerhead’. I bet most of the people who watch Full Size Run (I haven’t watched in more than a year) don’t understand the significance of Welty’s ‘wait, have you ever resold sneakers before?’ question to all of his guests, but IMO it’s like the only thing he does that I feel I understand (ie: poking fun at the fact that it was once very taboo to say you resold sneakers).
But the truth of the matter is - many of the people you know who have been ‘sneakerheads’ for years resold sneakers…many to fund their massive collections. Myself included. If anything, I’ve been able to build the collection I wanted to build by reselling alone - meaning I’m probably at break-even or slightly up. So for every dollar I’ve spent on shoes, I’ve probably cleared just as much or even more than I’ve spent. (Hopefully.)
So if being a sneakerhead now suddenly means you’re a sneaker reseller, what do you do if you just like sneakers but have no interest in using mommy’s credit card to cop 100+ pairs (word to Westcoast Joe)?
The secret awaits…tbc.
